More MP3's Added
Posted on Monday, October 24th, 2006
I've added more MP3's to the system, including Final Fantasy VII, VIII, and Tactics. I've also updated the interface.

Please note you cannot download or link the MP3 files. They are for listening/steaming purposes only.

MP3 Support on the way!

Well it's finally coming folks. I've started the framework for supporting mp3's. It's going to be a long road, but you can start to listen to Final Fantasy VII music right now.

Do Reh Me Fa So La (what)
Posted on Monday, October 05, 2005
Welcome back to Laguna's Jukebox! I've *finally* moved us to a new domain, where the site really belongs. Please update your bookmarks!

Along with offering plenty of Final Fantasy Music, I'm thinking about offering Final Fantasy MP3s - I need to discuss this option with my host, but if it works out you might be able to get the full sounds here (in addition to the MIDI files - those won't go away!). Please be paitent as I talk this over with the host.

I've spent some more time coding the new LJ and if I didn't have a life I'd be done. I'm always looking for people to help me though - when the site opens I'd love to have some people help me add music and MP3 files!

Laguna's Jukebox still here
Posted on Tuesday, July 05, 2005
I wish I could say that I've spent the past 4 months doing nothing but coding LJ, but I'm afriad that's just not the case. I have the login system near completion (I'm doing it right this time, not a hack job) so it's taking me a lot longer than I expected. Plus I'm just really busy with work.

If anyone wants to I am always looking for people to add news items, look for new music, and come up with new Final Fantasy related ideas. I've been trying to find more midis, but like I said, I've just been really busy. A friend of mine is working on the site re-design, but heaven knows how far along he is.

LJ to get major overhaul
Posted on Sunday, February 06, 2005
I've decied to finally do this site the right way. I have purchased a domain name for it, I'm starting to re-code it (but I'm taking my time this time). I have only completed the registration section, but hey, it's a start. My Next goal will most likely be templating. I also have found some much better code for displaying midis - and it works on IE, Firefox, maybe opera (still needs testing) and also safari on the mac. Stay tuned..

Time for my yearly update
Posted on Friday, January 21, 2005
I love it when I come to my site and I see that I've not updated the news in over a year. It's not that I don't have the time - it's more that I don't have the desire. Very few people visit this site, and so I kinda just let it die off. That's not to say I don't want to continue this site. I've had a few ideas, mainly switching the midi player over to something flash based (hopefully stopping browser and plugin issues).

The good news is I did finally get a mac with OSX (mostly for development/server purposes) and was able to test out the site - and it worked great.

The bad news is anyone that uses quicktime alternative won't be able to look at the site, it seems. I've not been able to get QTalt to work with LJ. Alas, thus my idea for a flash solution.

I also cleared out the users - there was lots of duplicates, and I figured most people are not browsing this site anymore anyways. If your account was deleted, I'm really sorry! Just re-register and keep on trucking.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask me:

Hey everyone.
Just wanted to ask that if you report a broken midi PLEASE send me your e-mail address. No, I don't want to sell it to people nor do I want to do anything else with it - but if you're having a problem with a song, and I'm not, I cannot respond to you and help figure out the problem. This has been the case recently, I've gotten several broken midi requests - but they all worked just fine for me when I tested them in both Mozilla and Internet explorer. Note I generally use Quicktime as the browser plugin - it seems to work best for midi files.

Gator is Spyware
Posted on Thursday, October 23, 2003
While doing my daily internet rounds, I found an article on Actiontrip ( talking about Gator suing people for calling their "software" spyware. Apparently the correct term is "Adware".

In my opinion, Gator is spyware - regardless of what they say. Tracking browsing habits and hiding in the background qualifies as spyware to me. Just thought I'd bring that up. If you want to remove Gator or if you believe you might be infected by Spyware please visit:

Final Fantasy VII Downloads Added
Posted on Tuesday, September 2, 2003
Hello all.. I've noticed quite a few people coming here looking for savegames, so I've decided to add my collection starting with Final Fantasy VII. The files are my entire work through Final Fantasy VII, which totals ~ 75 hours and has almost every character maxed with a fair amount of Master Materia and I believe every character's final weapon, including Yuffie, Cait Sith, and Vincent. Here is a screen shot:

Check out the downloads section for more information!

** Note: These files are for use with ePSXe, which can be found in the Playstation section of They may work with other programs, but I am unsure as to which programs that would entitle. **

New Report System
Posted on Tuesday, July 22, 2003
I have added a new "broken midi" reporting system to better assist me in finding and fixing broken files. Please note that if and when the next version of LJ comes out, there will be a complex midi "fix it" system, so I don't have to do as much digging in the database.

Again, if you have any problems using the new system, just shoot me at email using the contact link at the top.

Well, I hate doing this, but because people have been abusing the music files, I have to put in protection. This means book marking the files themselves is useless. If you have any problems playing files, please tell me asap by emailing

I've noticed quite a lot of broken midis being reported, and when I go to check them out, only about 25% don't actually work. If you are having problems, try downloading quicktime ( and IE6 ( If I decide to make a new version I'll make it work much better in other browsers, but for now IE4-6 is recommended.

Feel free to contact me as well ( with any questions or comments, I'd love to hear from you!

Wow.. people still visit this place!
Posted on Monday, July 14, 2003
Well after being gone for so long it's amazing that people still visit here. I checked my stats program and saw that I get about 1000 or so hits from google each month! I guess that isn't half bad.

Well, if you would like to contact me, the link at the top of the page is fixed (now points directly to my e-mail address) and you can also report midis, and I'll actually know about it (I wasn't ignoring you promise!).

I've thought about putting in a forum, but don't know yet, depends on the amount of traffic. If you visit, please send me an e-mail with ideas or features you would like to see.

Thanks, Akito

Laguna's Jukebox News + shutdown
Posted on Tuesday, June 11, 2002
Hi all. I have some rather bad news for you. Due to some pretty major (lifechanging) events in my life, I'm going to have to shutdown LJ and I cannot afford it anymore. In fact, I have to get rid of many of my items that I own (maybe including my car). I'm really sorry about this, I'm not 100% sure that I will close the site down, but odds are I'm going to have to. I'll keep you updated, however.

On top of that, my house is a few miles from being burned down (check > hayman fire). That isn't the event, but that's only going to add to the stress.

The good news.. two things, if I do end up keeping the site, I'm going to add a new feature that allows you to read my thought of the day (similar to's journal). It's pretty neat, I hope you'll like it (assuming I actually have it..).
Also, LJ has had over 100,000 total hits in a few months. In case you're curious, you can go to

Back - and in style!
Posted on Friday, January 11, 2002
Ya - that's right! After a long wait, I've decided to update Laguna's Jukebox. I really don't know why, maybe I'm just bored to death. Anyways, like I said, I'm updating the site.

I'm building the long awaited news system. I've set up the database, and should have it done sometime soon.

One of the main reasons it (the site) has not been updated is because I lost most of it when my computer crashed - and ironically the backup was corrupt, AND I was in the middle of moving servers, so there wasn't a copy on the server.
